After your tooth is prepared for a crown, CAD/CAM images are taken of the tooth. This replaces the old method of biting into the impression material for up to five minutes. The CEREC® machine will take the optical image and create a 3D model of your tooth. The designed crown is then milled in our office. A terrific advantage to the CEREC® crown is that you do not need a second appointment to have the crown cemented, nor do you need a temporary crown in the meantime.
